For years, Kars4Kids has used a famous ( or infamous) jingle to promote its charitable efforts, offering people a quick and easy way to donate an unused car to support the charity, which in turns helps children. But back on May 8, Orange County Superior Court Judge Gassia Apkarian ruled that the charitable organization had violated false advertising and unfair competition state laws in a case originally brought forth by California resident Bruce Puterbaugh in 2021. The judge found that Kars4Kids' jingle, which is played frequently on local radio and TV airwaves, failed to properly disclose that most of the money raised from the charity goes to a program for Orthodox Jewish teenagers in New York and New Jersey.

Verizon's latest complaint, which resulted in case #7415, questioned T-Mobile's advertising claims in its "Save on Every Plan" brochure, two commercials, "Top Three Plays of the Day," and "Holidays Are Coming in Hot: Families: Save 20%," a T-Mobile USA press release, and on T-Mobile's Savings Calculator website. As a result of its findings, NAD recommended that T-Mobile discontinue these claims:

The case in question revolves around T-Mobile's claims about its 5G network capacity and AT&T's response to those claims. On its website, T-Mobile says, "T-Mobile is America's largest and fastest 5G network, with more 5G network awards than any other carrier." It adds that it built its network using dedicated 5G frequencies and says other carriers can't match its nationwide coverage.

The province's car sales regulator, the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC), says the advertised price in a dealership ad must include all fees the consumer is expected to pay, except HST and licensing. In fact, it's been Ontario law since 2010 that dealership ads must set out the total amount. Marketplace journalists went undercover posing as shoppers across the Greater Toronto Area to find out if they could get a car at the price advertised on the dealerships' websites. Marketplace has received complaints from viewers who said they were being charged for add-ons like floor mats, rust protection and warranties.

Starting October 1, brands must ensure compliance with new LHF paid media restrictions to avoid fines, with enforcement from January 5 by the Advertising Standards Authority.
