The Sports Broadcasting Act grants the league limited antitrust protection to allow the teams to collectively negotiate packages of TV rights. Media companies, regulators and members of Congress have raised concerns in recent months over how difficult it is for consumers to be able to watch their favorite sports games as a result of rights deals in which leagues offer smaller packages of games to streamers.

Insisting they had no choice but to 'walk away' in a statement posted online, DAZN admitted that it 'proved impossible' to secure commercially viable carriage agreements and that it 'constructively tried to find a solution'. The London-based streaming service adhered that they have met all financial commitments for the 2025/26 season so far, which included coverage of 15 matchdays of the Jupiler Pro League, 14 of the Challenger Pro League, 10 of the Lotto Super League, plus the Croky Cup Round of 32.

The landscape now looks very different as Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) owns the exclusive rights to cycling coverage in the UK under TNT Sports, nestled within its platform discovery+.
