The Georgia jury was not so forgiving of a parent who gave an AR-15 to a 14-year-old child. They are only the second jury in American history to find a parent guilty after their child went on a shooting spree at a school. It is an important step forward in what CNN calls a growing nationwide effort 'to hold more people accountable for a school shooting, including the shooter's parents and responding law enforcement officers.'

I call on Santa Clara County DA Jeff Rosen or California Attorney General Rob Bonta to investigate and prosecute all municipal, state and federal parties who are in violation of SB 34 and SB 54. We have these laws for a reason, and no one should be above the law. These state laws were enacted to protect our privacy, and if our public officials cannot adhere to the laws, we must insist on immediately disabling all of these cameras being misused in violation of these laws. It is particularly unnerving that this information is being shared with federal agencies.

Loose marijuana found on a car's floorboards is like spilled beer, the court ruled.
While police chiefs say they won't enforce the state's new ban on masks for law enforcement officers, including federal immigration agents, California lawmakers say there's another way to penalize officers who conceal their identities. Senate Bill 627, known as the No Secret Police Act, can be enforced through the court system, creating a civil penalty for officers who violate the law, the bill's authors say.
