"What I would do is sit down with my electeds that are here...determining what's the best way to continue the success that we have been doing in the city."

When the City Council passed a law that forced restaurant delivery companies to create a nightmarish scheduling system, workers had to book full shifts just to deliver.

"Financially, emotionally, I'm stressed. I'm not able to sleep; it's heartbreaking," says Mangalathu, who's lived in the Morningside-Highway 401 area house for 26 years.

"The trailers violate the city's zoning and fire code, and we are currently dealing with an ongoing code enforcement case to resolve the issue effectively."

The city council approved new rules for homes in certain neighborhoods near Tilden Regional Park that will ban most plants and flammable items within five feet of homes.

"A lot of these amendments are being made to align with our existing operations and existing outreach," McCombs said. "Our rules have over time kind of fallen out of date, and we're needing to kind of catch up and get to where we are as a department."

The updated rule now prohibits plates from being coated with any material that could distort a photograph of the plate.
