Playing the full 90 minutes, the English international was nothing but a beast at midfield. Unfortunately for Bayern, he was everywhere at the same time, and always seemed to be fighting for the ball. Jurrien Timber deserves a mention, no doubt, but there's no denying Rice's monster efforts to not only keep Arsenal in the game, but keep them on the winning track. He was the calmest on the pitch for Arsenal, and always stepped up to kill Bayern's counters whenever the Gunners lost possession.
For me, that type of midfielder, I think Rodri was the pinnacle when he won the Ballon d'Or. He hasn't quite hit those levels [since] because of injury. I think he's slightly different to Rice. I think Rice has a little bit more going forward. Rice can play as a No.6 at a really top-class level but I think you're taking a little bit away from what he can offer when you get him to stay there.
I just spoke to him, he's not positive about it, he's got a brace on. We'll have to wait and see from the doctors. We haven't had him since the start of the season for one reason or the other, the shoulder twice and then this injury. We'll find solutions, but obviously he's our captain and is a player that gives us a completely different dimension with the things that he can do, especially in attacking.
