Waymo is testing its autonomous driving software in London, moving towards a fully driverless ride-hailing service with trained specialists on standby.
On Tuesday evening in Wuhan, more than 100 of Baidu's Apollo Go robotaxis stopped moving. They did not pull over. They did not activate an emergency protocol. They simply froze, scattered across the city's roads and elevated highways, some in the middle lane of ring roads with traffic streaming past on both sides.
Gov. Kathy Hochul has withdrawn her proposal that would have allowed commercial robotaxi services in smaller cities across the state. That means places outside New York City will not see driverless ride services anytime soon. If you live in Buffalo, Rochester or Albany, that future just got pushed further down the road.
Aurora driverless trucks have begun transporting goods on the nation's freeways, increasing efficiency but simultaneously leading to job losses for traditional truck drivers.
