A manager who was sacked after 45 years at the Murphy construction group when the firm learned its machines, staff and materials were used to build a house for his son has lost his claim for unfair dismissal.

Authorities allege that cashiers Carbonell and Rattana would intentionally apply unauthorized discounts or manually reduce the transaction total, then retain the discounted cash amount.

The alleged fraud scheme played out over more than a decade and the company's total losses remain unknown. It went undetected because it was allegedly committed by a worker holding that position for so long and being trusted in that position.
