Federal authorities say in court documents that the two were on duty in the 115th Precinct the evening of July 19, 2024, when they responded to a call about prostitution at a building on 89th Street near Roosevelt Avenue in Jackson Heights. Baid pled guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in April 2025, approximately one week before the trial was scheduled to commence.

A Lexington man who secured hundreds of thousands of dollars in COVID-19 relief funds through false claims is headed to federal prison, after authorities said he funneled part of the money into gambling and other personal expenses. John A. Hopkins, 48, was sentenced Tuesday to 24 months behind bars by U.S. District Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove in Frankfort. Hopkins previously admitted he took part in a fraud and money laundering scheme involving federal pandemic relief programs designed to keep struggling small businesses afloat.

Law enforcement began investigating Pagnoni after a man arrested in a child exploitation sting told them that Pagnoni had distributed child sexual abuse material to him in March 2023, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Investigators determined that Pagnoni had sent thousands of child pornography files to the man using the online cloud storage platform MEGA. Pagnoni's cell phone was seized during a search of his Provincetown home in May 2023, prosecutors said.
