Billy Dardis expressed that the closure of the men's sevens program is "unbelievably deflating", particularly after the historic achievement of both men's and women's teams at the Paris Olympics.
"Our expenses, as with everybody else's for a festival, are increasing and I think that the city appreciates the fact that we bring strong economic benefit to (it)," Johnson told San José Spotlight.
"Unfortunately, just like so many others, we were hit very hard after COVID for a variety of things, and we just weren't in a position to make it work financially anymore."
