The Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to sport an upgraded display with features such as Privacy Display. Now, a new leak suggests that the screen will come with improved protection as well. According to prolific leaker Ice Universe, the Galaxy S26 Ultra's display will get a new generation 'high-strength' Gorilla Glass. Anti-reflective coating on the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Galaxy S25 Ultra already uses an anti-reflective display coating that largely removes the need for matte screen protectors.

Apart from the different frame material, the S26 Ultra features more rounded corners, and its camera island is more exposed than last year's model. The new phone reuses the same Corning Gorilla Armor 2 protection across its displays and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on its back, just like last year's model.

Snap announced the creation of Specs Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the parent company, on Wednesday. The Santa Monica, California-based company said that Specs Inc. will focus on the augmented reality (AR) smart glasses division and grow as a distinct brand. The timing of the development is interesting, given that the parent company is also gearing up to launch the first consumer-focused smart glasses dubbed Specs. The device will incorporate elements of AR and smart glasses into a "wearable computer".

Meta is being sued by Solos, a rival smart glasses maker, for infringing on its patents, Bloomberg reports. Solos is seeking "multiple billions of dollars" in damages and an injunction that could prevent Meta from selling its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses as part of the lawsuit. Solos claims that Meta's Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Gen 1 smart glasses violate multiple patents covering "core technologies in the field of smart eyewear."

Xynavo is a pair of lightweight AR glasses built around lightweight immersion, private audio, and expandable functionality. It offers a 70-degree field of view and dual 4K micro-OLED displays, creating a virtual screen equivalent to more than 300 inches, yet weighs only 95g. The goal is to turn whatever you already own into a cinema-scale display you can wear, without the weight and noise of a full headset.

Another major upgrade is expected to be an OLED display, replacing the current LCD panels. A supply-chain report suggests Samsung is preparing OLED production for a device launching in the fall. Apple is aiming to move most of its premium devices to OLED over the next two years. Alongside the MacBook Pro, OLED is expected to come to the iPad Mini this year, with the MacBook Air following in 2027 or 2028.

The OrigArmor Screen Protector has a 7-layer anti-reflective coating that keeps reflectivity under 0.8%. This is five times better than a regular screen protector, which has a reflectivity of over 4.5%. Additionally, the glass has a light transmittance of over 95% (compared to 91% for regular protectors).
