Ross 'The Boss' Friedman was a pioneering force in both punk and heavy metal, best known as a founding member of The Dictators and Manowar. His powerful playing, unmistakable tone, and uncompromising spirit helped shape generations of musicians and fans around the world.
Hart sounds right at home with the band, showcasing a great live charisma in her performance and a solid, intense vocal performance. Fans curious how she would fit with the band in a live context will certainly have any anxieties allayed.
This record is rooted in the feelings of revenge and vindication. These are emotions that can either push us forward or hold us back. There's a duality to them. They can fuel growth, drive ambition, and help us rise above what's tried to break us, but they can also become destructive if we let them consume us.
We wanna do two days in Aston Villa [in Birmingham] and then come to America. And we wanna hear from everyone where we should go in America. And also we've gotta find a lot of young, new talent, because that's what [Ozzy] would want. That's what Ozzfest was all about. That second stage, that was the incubator - that's where so many [bands] came out of.
A few, for sure. About four times, actually. And my family's rather small. Suicide has impacted my old friend group quite a bit. I've lost friends. I've lost family. My older brother. My sister's youngest. I never thought I'd have that many people. Alcohol and depression, it comes hand-in-hand. One day the smiles stopped. I don't mind talking about it. You guys are actually talking to the right person.
The 2025 Aftershock Festival closed up shop on Sunday by delivering another full day's worth of heavy sounds and cool performances. Rob Zombie, Marilyn Mason, Bring Me the Horizon, Mudvayne and In This Moment were among the big-name acts to perform on the fourth and final day of this year's Aftershock Festival at Discovery Park in San Francisco. Here's a look at some of our favorite moments, accompanied with stunning photos from ace rock photographer Chris Riley:
Halford indicated that he had asked "Let's get married" multiple times in the past only to be told, "No, I don't wanna get married." He continued, "Suddenly on one of our night walks, [Thomas] goes, 'I think we should get married.' [I went] straight home [and got] on the phone to get a pastor."
Spinal Tap, the fictional band at the center of the film, was known for its excesses both on- and off-screen. The bass player stuffed his pants with a foil-wrapped zucchini, while the lead guitarists boasted of amps that "go to 11." Reiner both directed the film and played a documentary director in the movie. Now, in the sequel Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, the band returns for a reunion concert. As in the original film, the band is portrayed by Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer. Everyone's older in the sequel, but make no mistake: None of the characters has changed.
