Ellen (26) was tearfully reunited with her family after arriving home from New York, where she has worked for the last number of years, to spend Christmas with her family in Nenagh, Co Tipperary. She said she was "overwhelmed" by the moment, landing from JFK to greet her mum Una, her brother John, her dad Eunan and their beloved dog Oreo. "You're going to laugh when you hear my surname," she told the Irish Independent as Oreo, who was patiently waiting to greet her, sparkled in his Santa suit as he jumped up on her lap. "It's Merry, like Merry Christmas."
"I didn't live out a lot of the things that Kate did in the movie, but I know what it's like going home and having that heartbreak, and it's like a bittersweet feeling of having a love-hate relationship with the place that you're from."
Anderson was born and raised in nearby Ladysmith, British Columbia and said she was inspired to leave California and return to her roots. 'I guess [it was] a homecoming, you could say, to really kind of look at my life and remember who I was - not what other people were telling me I was,' Anderson told WWD.com on Tuesday.
