Vietnam is a country with a breathtakingly beautiful coastline, a mouthwatering food scene, and vibrant cities where UNESCO World Heritage Sites huddle in the shadow of gleaming skyscrapers.

As an avid solo traveler who's used to exploring destinations on my own terms, I had mixed feelings when my boyfriend's family invited me on a river cruise this summer. Of course, I was grateful to be invited and looked forward to the memories we'd make while sailing on the Danube. But after reading the itinerary - packed with eight destinations in seven days - I wondered how it would be possible to get an adequate feel for each location. I also worried about my ability to relinquish control in the planning process.

Few travel experiences capture the imagination quite like a journey across Türkiye and Egypt. Both countries are cradles of civilization, where history, culture, and natural beauty intersect in extraordinary ways. From the vibrant streets of Istanbul to the surreal landscapes of Cappadocia, and from the iconic Pyramids of Giza to the tranquil shores of the Red Sea, this 15-day itinerary offers travelers the chance to immerse themselves in ancient wonders while enjoying modern comforts.

In Sri Lanka, trains chug up misty mountains, mopeds weave past peacocks in paddy fields, and men in colourful sarongs pedal along dusty beach roads.
