The Toronto Blue Jays are using Braydon Fisher as an opener due to depleted pitching depth caused by injuries early in the 2026 season.
Fernández, 29, has long had intriguing stuff. He tossed 54 big league innings from 2019 to 2022. His 5.17 earned run average in that time wasn't especially impressive but both his four-seamer and sinker averaged over 98 miles per hour in his most recent season.
The Cowboys traded their 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 first-round pick for star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, who is signed through 2027. His contract demands an extension to justify the investment.
