Large numbers of police descended on an apartment building in the German city of Munich on Wednesday after a fire broke out inside, followed by loud explosions. One person was seriously injured, a police spokeswoman told AFP in the Bavarian state capital of Munich. She did not confirm media reports that shots had been fired and that one person had been found dead.
Media reports have said there was an explosion in the northern part of the city. A fire in a detached house in northern Munich set off a large emergency operation on Tuesday, with police and firefighters blocking roads and urging residents to avoid the Lerchenau area. A police spokesman said there was no danger to the public, though the incident caused significant traffic disruption.
