Major Davius dedicated his life to serving others - as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard, an NYPD officer, and previously as an FDNY paramedic. His commitment to protecting and helping others, both here at home and while serving our nation overseas, is a true testament to his character and courage.

A dedicated NYPD officer and decorated Army veteran, he spent his career protecting others. Major Davius was a devoted husband and father. I personally conveyed my deepest condolences to his wife and will keep his family, colleagues, and all who knew him in my thoughts.

Of the 15 officers who died in the line of duty while working for Enforcement and Removal Operations, the ICE branch charged with detaining unauthorized migrants within the interior of the US, all but two died of Covid. One deportation officer, Brian Beliso, died of a heart attack in 2020 during a foot chase. The other deportation officer to die of something other than Covid, Lorenzo Roberto Gomez, experienced heat stress during a training exercise in El Paso, Texas, leading to hospitalization.

Up to 1,500 active-duty troops in Alaska are on standby for possible deployment to Minnesota, a U.S. official informed NPR. This comes as the Trump administration has escalated pressure on the state, including threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act to suppress protests happening in Minneapolis. Anti-ICE protesters continued to take to the streets over the weekend, even as temperatures plummeted.

The US Air Force's Boeing C-40B Clipper is currently flying west after departing Washington DC Tuesday morning on an undisclosed mission. The aircraft, often described as an airborne 'war room' or 'flying office,' is used to transport high-priority personnel, including Cabinet members, combatant commanders and senior military leaders. It also provides secure, global communications capabilities for VIP transport and special missions.

The operation has seen around 3,000 Department of Homeland Security agents (DHS) - including agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) - flood Minnesota over the past two and a half months, taking particular aim at Minneapolis and St. Paul. The agents have harassed and abducted residents, showing blatant disregard for due process rights and frequently making headlines for their brutality.

As a veteran of the war on terror, I have spent the past year watching Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers expand their operations across the country on a heretofore unprecedented scale and with a new faux-military bearing. From equipment to weapons to tactics, ICE and other immigration enforcement bodies want to be seen as combat forces carrying out their missions.
