An arrest in a fatal hit-and-run case has not alleviated the family's grief over their loss.
Scott Quigley was indicted on a charge of negligent motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence, following a crash that resulted in the death of Angelo Schettino, a 37-year-old man with developmental disabilities.
Investigators have said they believe sparkling candles atop Champagne bottles ignited the fire when they came too close to the ceiling at the packed Le Constellation bar in the ski resort of Crans-Montana, less than two hours after midnight on Jan. 1. Authorities are looking into whether soundproofing material on the ceiling conformed with regulations and whether the candles were permitted for use in the bar. Fire safety inspections hadn't been carried out since 2019.
An investigator at the Lafourche Parish district attorney's office stated in a report released Wednesday that the car that crashed into a vehicle and killed a 78-year-old man was not facing an "imminent head-on crash" with the vehicle driven by former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy. Herman Hall died from his injuries hours after the Dec. 17, 2024, accident. The report estimates Lacy was driving a Dodge Charger 88 mph heading southbound on Louisiana Highway 20 prior to the collision.
