The Grand Lake Theater is kicking off its 100th birthday with free screenings of classic films including "The Wizard of Oz," "Singing in the Rain," "Fantasia," and "Snow White." Space is limited, and it is first-come, first-served. The theater will also offer tours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
With the open concept, there was no separation from the work and home setup. Because of this, I tried to make them flow seamlessly instead of competing with each other. It can be hard to have a 'shut off' from work with a layout like this, so I leaned into the existing built-in storage the space had and put on display the aspects of my career that provide inspiration instead of stress,
Operating within a roughly 600-square-foot footprint inside the Hall's community center, the new cafe offers energizing beverages crafted through a La Marzocco Linea PB espresso machine alongside food made with fresh, locally grown ingredients. Large shared seating areas indoors and out support quick visits or longer stays. The morning menu centers on grab-and-go items such as breakfast sandwiches, overnight oats and yogurt parfaits, while lunchtime service shifts to bowls, melts and other fast, filling options.

The DNA of a good dive bar isn't necessarily its menu, but its feel. It should be well-worn, the vinyl on the stools crackling like a dry lake bed on the verge of a rip. Yukon Tavern in Sellwood is a couple of those things, and more.
