In a bizarre move, Netflix released this series by Japanese master Hirokazu Kore-eda the Palme d'Or winner renowned for movies such as Shoplifters and Nobody Knows with absolutely no fanfare this year. But Asura was a total knockout a rich and sumptuously shot drama about four sisters in the 70s who discover that their dad has been having a lifelong affair. It was so good, in fact, that it might even be the most beautiful show they've ever released.

Based on the graphic novel by Isabel Greenberg, Julia Jackman's film features the Masters of the Universe He-man star again seducing royalty, as he did in Red, White & Royal Blue. The novel is inspired by the legendary collection of folk tales, One Thousand and One Nights, and focuses on two women in love, Cherry and Hero. A synopsis for the film reads: "When her neglectful husband departs after placing a secret wager to test her fidelity, Cherry (Maika Monroe) and her sharp-witted maid, Hero (Corrin), must fend off a dangerously seductive visitor: Manfred (Galitzine)."

There's something about Laura Sharp and Simon Tavistock. Close friends since college, they share jokes that no one else understands and instinctively know how to make the other feel better. All of You from Apple TV+ walks carefully into this age-old premise, sweetly and with more honesty than typical Hollywood fare. It's messy and romantic and both deeply sad and deeply soulful.

In "The History of Sound," a new romantic drama set during and after the First World War, passion is an intensely private thing, and in more ways than you might expect. Love and desire are not simply expressed in the sweaty vigor of bodies in bed; the two central characters are turned on, and brought together, by moments of quietly harmonious convergence, rooted in shared qualities of heightened perception, cultivated taste, and specialized knowledge.

KJ Apa's upcoming film The Map That Leads to You features a dramatic nude scene where he reveals his butt during a shower scene, creating a buzz.

Celine Song's films, including 'Materialists' and 'Past Lives,' explore themes of love, fate, and human relationships across time and culture, with intimate storytelling.

"Taylor Sheridan is like this once in a generation writer that redefined contemporary westerns and this Americana aesthetic. He reinvigorated that kind of world," showrunner April Blair told The Post.
