Google is moving search toward AI-generated direct answers, interactive results, and more flexible queries that may reduce clicks to external sites.
I believe generally when you search Bing and get a Copilot answer at the top, Bing will just immediately show you the answer. Now, Microsoft is testing an animated response where Bing writes out the answer like a chatbot. This change was spotted by Sachin Patel who posted a couple of video examples on X - I was able to replicate it myself, here is my video as a GIF:
Google is testing the ability to highlight portions of the response, to do a follow-up question on what you highlighted. It is similar to past tests on the AI Overview, but this is within AI Mode. This was spotted by Sachin Patel who shared a video of it in action and this screenshot. I cannot replicate, but here are those image assets: I think this can work, if searchers can understand when and why to do this.
