Jennifer Fasulo, a Spanish teacher at Charles W. Baker High School in Baldwinsville, a Syracuse suburb, was placed on a paid leave of absence on Jan. 30, just weeks after she offered to help students establish a Club America, the high school division of the Charlie Kirk co-founded conservative group, her supporters say.
The Music and Sonic Arts (MSA) program is an industry-shaping program focused on music recording, production, audio programming, interactivity, and composition using contemporary tools including Ableton or Max MSP software. Offered at the Portland Community College (PCC) Cascade campus in North Portland, the program includes pathways for two-year associate's degrees in music, or one-year certificates that can be useful in music and other tech jobs.
The student backlash comes amid national outrage over the Trump administration's ongoing immigration crackdown, which has been criticized for its use of violent tactics and racial profiling. The focus of Monday's discussions will be the university's endowment fund, worth about 4.2bn. The fund was set up to ensure the organisation's long-term financial security and is managed by the University of Cambridge Investment Management Limited (UCIM), a private company owned by the university. The company operates as a fund of funds a complex financial structure that means its money is spread across a wide range of sectors and overseen by an investment manager.
More than 1,100 students, graduates and student organizations have signed the petition calling on Georgetown Law and the George Washington University Law School, which is jointly hosting the event, to remove ICE and DHS from the Public Sector Recruiting Program (PSRP), a virtual career fair for students interested in working in the public sector. The petition also asks the universities not to invite ICE and DHS to any future career fairs or school events.

When he first learned that federal agents had detained Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil in the lobby of his university housing complex, Jameel Jaffer knew he was in for a fight. Jaffer is the director of a Columbia-affiliated institute devoted to the defense of the first amendment, and Khalil, a green card holder, had been a fixture at the pro-Palestinian encampments on campus. Months earlier, Jaffer's organization had hosted a symposium about the free speech rights of noncitizens.
Concerned about the amount of waste and use of nonrenewable items in school cafeterias, some Bay Area students and school districts have initiated changes toward more sustainable practices. In response to students' requests to be more eco-friendly, the Campbell Union School District has increased recycling efforts and is taking steps to reduce plastic waste. The district also plans to offer compostable utensils and large condiment dispensers in lieu of individual condiment packets.
