Status Yellow warning issued for four counties as 'heavy' rain forecast into the night

There were isolated showers around the country this morning with intermittent sunny spells. Cloud will gather in the west as the day goes on, bringing rainfall in western and southwestern counties, before moving inwards over the afternoon. Temperatures will reach between 4C and 8C in the afternoon, becoming slightly warmer in the night at 5C to 10C when it will be mostly wet with potential localised flooding in parts.

Status Yellow rain warning issued for four counties as 'heavy' rain forecast into the night

The first warning is valid from 2pm today until 9am tomorrow morning and promises to bring "persistent" and "heavy" rainfall, the forecaster said. It applies to counties Cork, Kerry and Waterford and threatens localised flooding and difficult travel conditions. These three counties were subject to the previous rain warning which expired this morning. Another warning has been issued by the forecaster for Wexford. It begins at 8pm on Sunday evening and lasts until Monday morning, 10am.
