Ford's skunkworks EV team will enhance hybrid models, aiming for 90% of global nameplates to offer electrified powertrains by decade's end.
The Type Sigma hides every seam, every panel gap, every hint of how it might actually be built. The body looks like a single piece of fabric pulled taut over a frame, finished in matte gray that emphasizes form over finish.
The reimagined F1 maintains the sacred proportions of the original while evolving its surface language into something more contemporary. The long hood remains, a visual reminder that this car houses a naturally aspirated engine positioned just behind the driver.
The 2026 Stingray is the first version of this car where the design language inside matches the sculptural ambition of the body. Everything before this was a supercar exterior with a parts-bin cockpit. That tension is finally resolved.
We had this storied journey where we had to build the team, in a sense, before we had an entry. This project is so complex, even now, walking through the factory, seeing all the things that had to be built. There are some 43,000 parts you're designing your own chassis. It's a big, big task.
We're using Formula 1 on Apple TV to show exactly how the extreme research and development tested in the world's harshest racing environments translates directly to the consumer. That's not a marketing line. It's absolutely real, drawing a line between Ford racing vehicles and the tech inside vehicles like the F-150 Raptor, Bronco Raptor and the new EV electric truck that's on its way.
The project was originally intended to be much less, simply a garage for the owners' current beloved collection of five Porsches-two convertibles, a coupe, an SUV, and an electric sedan. But as they started talking, says lead architect Carl Baker, the mission crept to include "the ability to indulge all of their hobbies."
Porter complained about difficulties when trying to insert lines in Excel. (Which, to be fair to Microsoft, is relatively straightforward - need to insert a row? Right-click on a selected row. Need to insert a line in text? Alt+Return is probably going to be your friend.) But then Porter turned to that other productivity stalwart, Word. "Never underestimate Microsoft's ability to make things more complicated," he said.
Chinese state-owned carmaker Chery is pressing ahead with its rapid UK expansion by launching a fourth brand in the British market, underlining its ambition to become a long-term player in one of Europe's most competitive automotive landscapes. The group confirmed it will introduce vehicles under the Lepas brand, a new line focused on battery-electric and hybrid SUVs aimed at younger families. While Lepas is being developed primarily with Europe in mind, the UK will be one of its early launch markets.
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
In the short term, expectations are brutally realistic, but this is still a team intent on making noise from day one. That intent will be made clear when Cadillac unveils the livery of its first F1 car during a Super Bowl commercial Sunday. Such a move is a statement and arrival aimed as much at mainstream America as at a paddock that, for years, questioned whether the brand belonged on the grid at all.
"Chinese cars may be growing rapidly in popularity, but UK readership has yet to catch up," said David Struzzi, communications lead at Taboola. "Brands like Mercedes-Benz and Ford are cemented into people's cultural imagination - which is why they earn more reader interest than newer Chinese cars."
The vibration into the chassis is causing a few reliability problems: mirrors falling off, tail lights falling off, all that sort of thing, which we are having to address. Fernando [Alonso] is of the feeling that he can't do more than 25 laps consecutively before he risks permanent nerve damage to his hands.
Throughout North America, a host of museums have become dedicated temples to the art and engineering that makes a memorable car, including California's Petersen Automobile Museum, Florida's American Muscle Car Museum and Pennsylvania's Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum. But in the Pacific Northwest, an under-the-radar car collection for the ages has slowly come together - and while it's not as well-known as some of the names mentioned above, it probably should be.
The American automotive landscape is changing after a period that saw tighter emissions rules push automakers toward more efficient, quieter powertrains and prompted shifts away from big V8 engines. But many of those regulations, including the federal EV incentives, have fallen away, leading automakers that once promised to discontinue the gas-hungry engines to reinvest in V8 offerings - especially in full-size trucks and performance cars.
The original 300 SL Uhlenhaut Coupe, the racing variant that never made it to public roads, remains one of the most valuable cars ever auctioned, fetching $143 million at a 2022 Sotheby's sale. So when concept designer Gabriel Naretto decided to name his reimagined Mercedes-AMG shooting brake after the man himself, the pressure to deliver something worthy of that legacy was immense.
This is silly, but a particular lifestyle seemingly comes with it for anyone who drives a Mercedes. You might feel like you are taking on the responsibility of trying to show you are living a "rich" lifestyle, even if that isn't why you bought the car. Ultimately, this kind of pressure isn't for everyone and isn't guaranteed to happen, but many Mercedes owners complain about it after purchase.
