It's OK For EVs To Be 'Worse' Than Gas Cars
Briefly

China leads the global market in electric vehicles (EVs) partly due to significant government investment and a large base of first-time car buyers who are unencumbered by a history with internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. In contrast, U.S. consumers, primarily older and entrenched in traditional vehicle ownership, find the shift to EVs challenging due to nostalgia and practical concerns regarding infrastructure. Many are reluctant to transition from ICE to EV as their previous experiences shape their expectations and preferences, creating barriers to EV adoption.
The biggest barrier to U.S. EV adoption is that unlike in China, most American buyers have deep, emotional ties to ICE vehicles, making the transition daunting.
Chinese EV buyers often view their purchases as a fresh start, unburdened by the legacy and nostalgia that U.S. buyers carry from gas vehicles.
