A group of family burglars stole jewelry valued at $87,000, cash, and an Audi car from Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak's home during a significant burglary in Northumberland last April. The burglars, comprised of three family members from Italy, admitted to the crime, targeting Isak while the footballer was absent. Prosecutors revealed a history of theft from the region, with previous burglaries bringing in over 1 million in stolen goods. The group was characterized by their organized and professional methods, including traveling across Europe to execute their crimes.
"This was a professional group of traveling burglars," said Dan Cordey, prosecuting. The thieves had previously stolen upwards of 1 million in goods.
The court heard that the robbers arrived in the UK via a ferry from Calais, using a Citroen and a mobile home as bases for their activities.
