"It's a neighborhood bar and we care a lot about the neighborhood," said co-owner Austin Hunt, a San Francisco native who attended Lincoln High School. After starting as a barback on his 21st birthday, he worked his way up to become co-owner in 2021. "We are trying to preserve the soul of San Francisco. That's why we are here."
The Homestead, which has endured Prohibition, two World Wars, and the city's devastating earthquakes, stands resilient, showcasing a legacy of community connection in San Francisco.
