bofumil sendagaya Cafe / Jo Nagasaka + Schemata Architects
Briefly

Bohumil Coffee, which opened in Seoul in May 2023, has roots in the transformation of Seongsu from a factory area to a trendy locale. Their temporary space, set in an old concrete building facing imminent demolition, serves to explore new café layouts without the pressures of gentrification. With initiatives like Bohumil sendagaya in Tokyo, founded by Mr. Kim of the successful Anthracite café, the project aims to redefine coffee culture and create an inviting atmosphere for coffee enthusiasts through ongoing design experimentation and adaptation.
The Bohumil project initiated to challenge the gentrification cycle, creating a "fourth wave" coffee space that welcomes casual visits without the pressures of upscale trends.
Located in an old concrete building in Seongsu, Bohumil Coffee stands as a temporary shop, allowing Mr. Kim to explore innovative cafe designs through practical experimentation.
