Boston College has announced Rev. John 'Jack' Butler as its next president, set to take office in summer 2026. Butler currently serves as vice president for university mission and ministry and succeeds longstanding president William Leahy, who has held the role for 30 years. Known for being a 'dynamic leader' and community member, Butler expressed gratitude towards the Boston College community, stating he sees the campus as a family. His extensive experience over 23 years at BC and commitment to its mission underscore his readiness for the role.
"We are very excited for him and the future of Boston College," said BC Board of Trustees Chair John Fish, highlighting Butler’s understanding of the University's mission.
"I've been at BC for 23 years, and I've been greatly loved in this community. I've tried to love it back, and now it's my job to love it back," Butler expressed.
"I look forward to working closely with the BC community so that together we can lead Boston College to even greater heights," Butler stated, reflecting his vision as president.
