Seven men from Chile have been charged for allegedly participating in a series of burglaries at the homes of high-profile athletes, stealing valuables valued at over $2 million. They face conspiracy charges and potential prison sentences of up to 10 years. A federal complaint links them to burglaries involving not only Milwaukee Bucks player Bobby Portis but also Kansas City Chiefs players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. The FBI had previously alerted leagues about these theft organizations targeting athletes' homes due to the perception of valuable possessions.
The FBI had issued warnings to sports leagues about the crime organizations last year, saying athletes' homes were being targeted due to the perception they may have high-value items.
Three of the men have also been charged by a federal grand jury in Cincinnati in connection to the burglary of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow's home.
