Prominent Australian author Craig Silvey has been charged with possessing and distributing child exploitation material. Silvey, 43, had a search warrant issued at his Fremantle home on Monday, 12 January, where detectives allegedly found him actively engaging with other child exploitation offenders online. He was immediately arrested, and his electronic devices were seized. He appeared before the Fremantle magistrates court on Tuesday, 13 January, charged with distribution of child exploitation material.

Police in Milford posted a video of a pickup truck doing doughnuts in a snowy parking lot, with the vehicle eventually crashing into an adjacent fence. They say the driver - a 20-year-old who lives in town - is now facing charges: negligent operation of a motor vehicle, wanton destruction of property, and leaving the scene of property damage. Police said Parks Department reported the damage to the bike path fence at Fino Field last Friday morning.

A mother has been charged after a baby was allegedly abandoned at a Toronto church last month. A person who answered the phone at St. Monica's Catholic Church said the baby was found there but referred further questions to police.

Joseph C. Norton, vice chair of the Framingham Planning Board, was arrested on Dec. 18 in a coordinated online operation between State and Framingham investigators, according to a Boston Globe report. On Dec. 19, he pleaded not guilty to charges of enticing a child under 16, paying for sex with a child under 18, and attempting to commit a crime, according to the report. He was released on $2,000 cash bail and is due back in court for a Jan. 30 hearing.

An 84-year-old man has been charged with 47 historic child sexual offences. The alleged offences took place between the late 1960s and 2010 in locations including London, Kent, Portugal, Turkey and Hungary, according to the Metropolitan Police. They relate to nine separate men, who were aged between eight and 14 at the time.

Philip Young, 49, formerly from Swindon but now living in Enfield in north London, has been charged with 56 sexual offences. The bus driver, a Wilmington man, is being summonsed to Woburn District Court, and police are seeking two charges against him: assault and battery and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. Back on Monday, Dec. 8, police were notified of "potentially inappropriate social media activity" by the driver and began investigating.

A woman is facing felony charges in Evansville, Indiana over a DoorDash delivery in which she allegedly sprayed the food with a substance that made the customers vomit. In a press release, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office said that it was contacted on December 7 by a man who said that he and his wife vomited and experienced a burning sensation in their mouth, nose, throat, and stomachs after eating fast food ordered through DoorDash. The man told NBC News that he noticed something red had been sprayed on the delivery bag, so he checked footage from their doorbell camera. According to the sheriff's department, the footage shows that after dropping off the food and taking a photo, the woman appeared to spray a substance towards the food from a small aerosol can attached to her keychain.
