Police said the preliminary investigation indicates the BMW, with two occupants, was traveling northbound on Cushing Parkway approaching the intersection of Auto Mall Parkway and the semi-truck was traveling westbound on Auto Mall parkway."
"The front of the BMW made impact with the middle of the trailer and was pulled underneath the trailer, police said. The BMW driver, a 23-year-old man, and front seat passenger, a 19-year-old man, were transported to a hospital. The driver was treated and released but the passenger was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, police said."

The truck driver was uninjured and remained at the scene. Traffic signals were functioning; investigators believe one vehicle entered against a red light and impairment is not suspected. The intersection was closed for several hours while investigators worked, and witnesses are asked to contact the Fremont Police Department Traffic Unit or submit anonymous tips.
