"A 26-year-old Toronto man was arrested after an alleged hate-motivated assault at a rally supporting protestors in Iran on Saturday, said police. Officers arrested the man Saturday afternoon after he allegedly made anti-Black comments and punched someone in the chest and face at the demonstration, said Toronto police in a news release. They said the accused was wearing a balaclava "to conceal their identity" during the assault. The victim sustained minor injuries from the incident."
"The man is facing two charges for assault and intent to wear a disguise, said Toronto police. He was scheduled to appear in court on Sunday morning. Police estimated that 350,000 people came out to the North York rally on Saturday to call on the Canadian government to recognize Iran's exiled crown prince Reza Pahlavi as the leader of the democratic transition after anti-government protests erupted in the country at the end of last year. Another man was arrested in a separate case on Friday for allegedly making threats online to harm participants at the weekend protest."
