The wife of the lorry driver, who wishes to be anonymous, said that her husband was making a delivery and parked the vehicle when he went to open the shutter. She claims that two cars had ploughed into the back of his stationary van, and that he managed to get out of the way by seconds.
Fortunately, he only sustained an injury to the hip. She added: I'm very lucky that my husband made it home from work this morning alive.
One woman was taken to hospital for treatment, but her injuries are not thought to be life threatening, and a male was also treated at the scene, the Metropolitan Police said.
Images show a car with its front crushed, as a Millers Bespoke Bakery lorry is on top of the vehicle. The lorry itself is also damaged at the front from impact to a lamppost.
