Six Recent Chicago-Area Restaurant and Bar Closures to Know
Briefly

Chicago is facing extreme cold, prompting several restaurants to close recently. Notable closures include family-owned El Habanero in Logan Square, which closed on February 15 after 11 years, with hopes of a future revival after a vacation to Mexico. T Square Cafe in North Center, a bubble tea shop run by sisters, closed on January 20. Also closing was Old Town Pour House, operational for 13 years, on January 5. The city’s dynamic dining scene continues to shift, and tips on closures are welcomed.
The Lara family, which has been running the restaurant for the past 11 years, told the publication that they hope to revive El Habanero in some fashion after they take a needed vacation to Mexico.
The cafe offered rice bowls, Portuguese egg waffles, and other treats that utilized traditional Chinese ingredients. Ownership included sisters Tina Chen and Jenny Liu, along with their friends, Rachel Mai, Angel Lai, and Tina Xie.
Old Town Pour House closed its doors at its Wells Street location at 1339 N Wells Street, as of Sunday, January 5, according to a Facebook post published by the establishment in December.
The list is by no means comprehensive. Have information on another closing? Send all tips to chicago@eater.com.
