Hourglass figure ideal for mastering art of hula hooping, study finds
Briefly

According to Olivia Pomerenk, a PhD candidate at New York University, an hourglass figure may offer advantages in hula hooping, highlighting the importance of having both sufficient curvature and slope in the body to keep the hoop stable. This finding emerged from a study that explored how body dimensions can influence the physics of hoop spinning.
The research, which took five years, used 3D printed shapes with various curvatures and slopes to analyze how these physical attributes affect hoop stability. Pomerenk explained that while a cylinder lacks any slope or curvature, an hourglass possesses both, making it a superior shape for maintaining a reliable hoop spin.
