The E. coli outbreak linked to fresh onions from a California produce company has led McDonald's to remove certain menu items as a precaution, affecting 49 people across 10 states; investigations are ongoing.
The situation has prompted multiple fast-food chains to pull onions from their menus. Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC, and Burger King acted quickly to address concerns about potential E. coli contamination from the same source.
Taylor Farms is under scrutiny as the source of the contaminated onions tied to a McDonald's outbreak. Nonetheless, a U.S. Foods spokesperson clarified that their recalled products were not supplied to McDonald's.
The FDA has not confirmed an investigation of Taylor Farms, while emphasizing that their inquiry into the outbreak, which resulted in one death, covers all potential sources.
