After several hours of negotiation, the man descended and was taken to the hospital under the mental health act. However, during the incident, he allegedly spat at two police officers, leading to his arrest for assaulting an emergency worker. The case remains under investigation.
Police were received a concern for welfare call at 15:26hrs on Thursday, 13 February regarding a man who had climbed onto a crane in Lodge Place, Sutton.
The man was seen climbing on top of a crane, and after some hours, he agreed to come down and was taken to hospital under the mental health act.
However, the Metropolitan Police alleges that he spat at two officers and was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
At least four ambulances and several police vehicles were seen in the area, near to the Kwik Fit.
