PC Morgan Younger bravely intervened to disarm a knifeman who was attempting to stab another man at a petrol station in Lewisham, London. While on patrol and purchasing a drink, PC Younger spotted the suspect attacking a victim, grabbed him by the throat. Without hesitation, he intervened, wrestled the assailant to the ground—holding him for five minutes until backup arrived. The quick action of PC Younger has been praised by authorities for potentially saving the victim from serious injury and exemplifying the qualities of effective police work.
This is outstanding work from an officer who was on patrol alone, saw a very violent crime in progress and, without hesitation, raced in to assist.
I cannot overstate how proud we are in the Met today of his quick-thinking and bravery. He was calm and professional and everything we want our police officers to be.
