Shahin Hosein, 35, was sentenced to eight weeks in prison after stealing 178 boxes of Ferrero Rocher from a Sainsbury's store in Beckenham.
The court heard that Hosein was originally arrested for shoplifting on May 29, but failed to attend his court appearances leading to increased police efforts to find him.
In addition to the theft of the chocolates, Hosein faced charges for being in possession of an offensive weapon, specifically a leather cosh, in public.
