Michelin-starred restaurant Atelier is launching a crowdfunding campaign to relocate to a better location that attracts more foot traffic. Current owner, Tim Lacey, aims to enhance visibility, as the existing spot in Lincoln Square has challenges due to traffic distractions. Since its opening under chef Christian Hunter, Atelier has received a Michelin star, which helped boost its reputation and talent retention. As they search for a new venue, Lacey hopes to maintain a connection to Lincoln Square while creating opportunities for Chef Bradyn Kawcak, who officially took over as executive chef in early 2024.
"I could fix up the facade and draw more attention, but people are driving by pissed off that they're stuck in traffic so they're not paying attention to what's around."
"Up to that point, trying to sell a 12-course tasting menu in Lincoln Square with an unknown chef was quite difficult. When we earned that designation, it ignited our restaurant."
"The whole point isn't to sit on some sort of throne - it's to create opportunity. It just seemed like a really cool natural progression."
