Jabez Allies struggles with chronic lower back pain, feeling overwhelmed and hopeless despite various traditional treatments. A new study indicates that managing emotions can significantly enhance pain management. Conducted by the University of New South Wales and Neuroscience Research Australia, the study involved 89 participants undergoing an online dialectical behavior therapy course specifically designed for chronic pain. This course, combined with usual treatment methods, showed promise in helping individuals regain control and mitigate their pain experience by addressing emotional factors underlying chronic pain.
The study highlights the importance of emotional management in conjunction with traditional pain treatments, revealing that addressing emotions can significantly reduce pain experiences.
Through the new online course tailored to chronic pain, participants learned to manage their emotions effectively, thus fostering a sense of control over their pain.
