Jovany Portades, a 34-year-old with an extensive criminal history, was arrested for allegedly slashing a woman's throat on a BART train in San Francisco on Saturday.
The incident occurred as the Antioch-bound train approached the 24th Street Station, with Portades fleeing after the unprovoked attack on a 54-year-old woman.
Portades's violent history includes arrests for robbery, drug possession, and firing an unregistered firearm, but this slashing incident appears to be his first violent assault.
BART Police are urging anyone with information about the attack or suspect to contact their investigations tip line to aid in ongoing inquiries.
