A fire in the East Village on February 2 claimed the life of a 75-year-old man and injured two others. It broke out around 10:22 a.m. in a six-story building located on 2nd Avenue. Firefighters responded quickly, extinguishing the flames within the hour, but unfortunately, the man was discovered unconscious and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending family notification. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the FDNY marshals.
