The FDNY arrived shortly after 12:48 p.m. to heavy smoke coming from the two-story building, with flames spreading to the second floor and cockloft. Over 100 firefighters employed four hose lines and ventilated the smoke by cutting roof holes. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the FDNY Fire Marshals Office.
