The National Advertising Division (NAD) has instructed Total Wireless to update its advertisements to prevent misleading claims about pricing and promotions. A complaint from T-Mobile highlighted confusion caused by Total Wireless suggesting customers could obtain four lines for $25 per month along with four free 5G phones. Although the offers were visually separate in the ad, the audio led to misinterpretation. Total Wireless, a subsidiary of Verizon, stated it disagrees with the decision but will follow NAD's guidance to adhere to industry regulations moving forward.
"NAD found the advertisement's audio unclear, leading to the unsupported impression that customers could receive four lines at $25 and four free 5G phones concurrently."
"While Total Wireless disagrees with NAD's decision, it supports industry self-regulation and will modify its ads in compliance with their recommendations."
