The city determined the wharf was safe to reopen following a sonar and engineering assessment, confirming that debris is at a safe distance from the structure.
Mayor Fred Keeley reassured the community during the reopening ceremony, stating, "We want to let the community know, and people all over Northern California know, that it is safe to come to our wharf."
Councilmember Scott Newsome highlighted the community's resilience after the Dec. 23 destruction, expressing gratitude for the support shown towards the wharf, its business, and workers.
Following the reopening, visitors will enjoy free parking for the first two hours for the month, encouraging attendance and community engagement at the revitalized wharf.
