Pocketpair, creators of the popular game Palworld, are venturing into indie game publishing with a project from Surgent Studios, known for Tales of Kenzera. With Palworld's success attracting over 25 million players last year, Pocketpair aims to support struggling indie developers, an initiative highlighted by John Buckley. Surgent, facing funding challenges, is stepping away from their established narrative universe to explore new horror themes, a decision welcomed by their founder Abubakar Salim for its capacity to engage deep emotions in players.
As the games industry continues to grow, more and more games find themselves struggling to get funded or greenlit. We think this is a real shame, because there are so many incredible creators and ideas out there that just need a little help to become incredible games.
We're taking a little detour from the Tales of Kenzera universe. The horror genre is a fascinating space that taps into primal emotions, immersing audiences in a reality that's removed from their own yet strikes something deep and dark within us all.
