Tour a Deer Valley Home Where Skiing Happens Right Outside the Front Door
Briefly

Margaret Coblentz and Geoff Miller met during a skiing trip and married, desiring a family retreat that integrated skiing into their lives. Though they have a primary residence in San Francisco, they chose to build a second home in Deer Valley, Utah, to stay connected with family. They purchased a ski-in/ski-out lot and, working with interior designer Senalee Kapelevich, sought to create a unique home that balanced traditional Western elements with modern warmth, embodying the spirit of California in a mountain setting.
We came in with a clear sense of what we wanted the house to be and how we wanted it to feel. We looked at a lot of mountain homes, and there seemed to be two prevailing aesthetics: traditional Western on one hand, and extremely angular and cold on the other. The homeowners wanted something in between-a home that made sense in its setting, but that was suited to their tastes.
Skiing is an important activity to us as a couple, but we also just love getting people together.
California, but in the mountains, is how we envisioned our retreat and I believe we were able to achieve that with our new home.
