A woman has been re-arrested in connection with the deaths of two eight-year-old girls, Nuria Sajjad and Selena Lau, who died when a gold Land Rover crashed into their school. Initially arrested at the scene, she faced no further action based on an investigation by the Roads and Transport Policing Command. However, the families expressed concerns, prompting a review of the case. Detective Superintendent Basford now leads the investigation, appealing for witnesses to come forward to assist in pursuing new lines of enquiry identified during the review.
Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford stated, "I would like to take this opportunity to appeal to any witnesses or individuals with information who are yet to speak to police to please come forward."
The initial investigation led the Crown Prosecution Service in June 2024 to decide that the driver should face no further action, raising concerns from the families.
This review identified lines of enquiry requiring further examination and led to the case being transferred to the Specialist Crime Command for deeper investigation.
The re-arrest of the 48-year-old female on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving emphasizes the ongoing complexities surrounding this tragic incident and the family's pursuit of justice.
