Diane Inglis, 69, reported an injury after tripping over a misaligned manhole cover while walking with her husband in West Wickham. Despite multiple reports to Bromley Council, which stated the incident did not meet investigatory levels, Diane expressed concern for local elderly residents. Following the fall, she experienced significant shock and bruising that necessitated medical attention. The incident raised awareness about the potential dangers posed by infrastructure issues, particularly to vulnerable populations like seniors living nearby.
I fell over the slab, one corner is particularly higher than the rest, around an inch above the pavement. I was just so shocked, and I burst into tears.
There's a lot of elderly people who live in West Wickham... if it had happened to someone more fragile the injuries could be so much worse.
I was shaken up... the people in the shop wanted to call an ambulance but I said no.
Following her fall, Diane expressed concern for other residents in the area, particularly the elderly.
